The theme of our 'Chairman's Challenge' this year is
UPCYCLE AND RECYCLE
Work to be completed by, and displayed at our AGM in September 2020.
Work to be no bigger than A2 please. 3d items a reasonable size (and clothing will be expected to be modelled!).
Any money raised will be donated to The Alzheimer’s society.
Its a perfect opportunity to stay away from the shops and use up bits and pieces that we have around the house.

I attach 2 pics, one of my granddaughter wearing her school uniform the other of the keepsake memory bear I made from her blazer, skirt, blouse and tie. She is moving up to 6th form and no longer required to wear a uniform.

Upcycle entry. Hand embroidered in wool on existing black jumper. Design from pictures of Hungarian embroidery.
Hat worn by me! made from shrunk woollen jumper – together with image of 4 others made in same way.
(2) Commercial embroidery taken from silk shawl (dropping to bits) and stitched to tee shirt.

I put this together using inherited pieces from my mom. after clearing out draws during lockdown.
There are tray clothes, doillies crochet work by my mom and pieces of embroidery by myself around 9 years old and with added stitching and embellishments.

I decided to incorporate wrappers from some of the ‘nice but naughty’ items that I have been consuming during lockdown, together with the sculptural dead heads from some pretty roses that were given to me by a lovely friend to cheer me up.
The famous caramel wafers, Magnums, Bon Maman desserts and chocolate drops are some of the things my diabetic nurse wouldn’t approve of....but I just felt lucky to be alive and safe, if rather lonely at times, plus it gave me an opportunity to use my laminator for the first time.....receipt in box from 2007, lol .
Some simple stitching added to the larger flowers.

I've recycled a piece 'mop up' kitchen roll for the background and used apiece of silk cut from an old sari I've been hoarding. I love turning trash into treasure.
